I hereby cordially invite you and your Students to the Prestigious U.M.A. UK Open Judo Ne Waza High Kneeling Championships on Sunday 19th August 2007.

 

There are Peewee, Junior, Cadet and Senior Categories, infact there are 30 Categories in total, also giving everyone who enters up to 2 individual and separate categories to enter & compete in.

 

The Championships will be held at the Carver Road Community Centre, Carver Road, Horninglow, Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, right in the Heart of the Midlands.

 

Entries will be limited to a maximum of 100 Competitors for these Championships, and we will be running on up to 2 Matted Competition Areas.

 

The Venue and its Facilities are Excellent, there is a separate practice, coaching and warm up area for the Competitors, Male & Female Toilets, Coat Racks and Kit Bag Area, also by keeping the Competitor numbers at a sensible level, this also gives every Competitor a better and fairer chance of winning for everyone involved on the day of the Championships.

 

Any Competitor who doesn’t manage win a Prestigious U.M.A. Title, 1st, 2nd or 3rd Place Championships Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal, will receive a Tournament Medal in recognition for taking part and competing these Championships, so really, everyone who Compete in these Championships will be a winner.

 

These Championships are designed to be friendly, but still competitive; hence this will make for a great and enjoyable day for everyone, Competitors, Officials and Spectators.

 

Hopefully, I will look forward to seeing you & your Students entering & taking part in these Championships, this is an Event that is not to be missed.

U.M.A. English Open Judo Back to Back Ne Waza / GroundFighting Championships Rules

 

Techniques Not Allowed and Illegal for all Age and Weight Categories which will lead to Immediate Warning with Penalties and which could also result in an Immediate Disqualification from not only the Category itself, but from the Open Championships as a whole.

 

  • No standing ( One knee MUST remain on the Mat / Tatami AT ALL TIMES )
  • No striking or kicking of any kind, no eye gouging or fish hooking
  • No scratching and pinching, thumbing or biting
  • No hands, knees, elbows on face and no hair pulling
  • No face, mouth, nose covers or grabbing the ears
  • No headlocks or upper body, shoulder locks and no touching groin area
  • No finger, hand, wrist, toe, legs, knee, ankle, leg or shoulder locks
  • No body scissors, spine locks, neck or back cranks
  • No butt scooting, avoiding combat or just sitting in the guard
  • No full nelsons, crucifixes, figure four or guillotines
  • No slippery substances on the head, body area or Gi
  • No use of the Gi Clothing, Pants or Belt, to aid an Advantage, Technique or Submission
  •  (For the Exception Lapel Chokes Only)
  • Unsportsmanlike Conduct, Goading or Talking back to the Judges, Referees, Officials, Coach’s, Spectators, or your Opponent/s

 

 

 

Competitors Age up to and including 15 years of age

  • No standing allowed ( One knee MUST remain on the Mat / Tatami AT ALL TIMES )
  • No arm locks
  • No chokes
  • Can win via Pin / Hold Down, Points Accumulation, Countdown, Tap Out or by Judges or Referee’s Score and/or Decision

 

 

Competitors Age 16 years old and over

  • No standing allowed ( One knee MUST remain on the Mat / Tatami AT ALL TIMES )
  • Arm locks allowed (Which must NOT be Applied in a Snapping or Jerking Motion)
  • Chokes allowed(Except for using the Hand to Close the Wind Pipe) (All Chokes must be Applied in a Squeezing Motion Only)
  • Can win via Pin / Hold Down, Points Accumulation, Countdown, Submission / Tap Out or by Judges or Referee’s Score and/or Decision

 

Pins / Hold-Down Times and Scoring Schedule

  • 5 seconds; Koka = 1 Points (if Koka or combination is scored etc, at the end of the round, the Player with the most Points wins)
  • 10 seconds; Yuko = 2 Points (if Yuko or combination is scored etc, at the end of the round, the Player with the most Points wins)
  • 15 seconds; Wazari = 3 Points (if Wazari or combination is scored etc, at the end of the round, the Player with the most Points wins)
  • 20 seconds; Ippon  = 6 Points and Win, End of the Round / Match
  • You can accumulate as many Koka’s and Yuko’s in a match to score etc, however, if 2 x Wazari’ s are scored in a match/round against your opponent, then it is an Automatic Ippon and Win with 6 Points and the End of the Round / Match.
  • Win by Kachi Win is Judges and or Referee’s Decision in case of a Draw or No Score = 4 Points and Win, End of the Round / Match
  • Win by Submission or Tap Out = 9 Point Ippon Win, End of the Round / Match

 

If the Round / Match is a No Score or an Equal Draw, the Final decision is given by the Judges and or Referee as a Kachi Win based on any warnings and or penalties accumulated, offensive attacks, attempts to pin, submit and win etc, The Referee’s Decision is FINAL.

 

Round / Match Time Limits

  • Competitors up to and including 15 years of Age: 2 minutes per round
  • Competitors 16 years old and over: 3 minutes per round

 

Warning and Penalty Schedule:

  • 1st Warning is without Penalty or Points against
  • 2nd Warning Koka Penalty  = 1 Point Penalty against
  • 3rd Warning Wazari Penalty  = 3 Points Penalty against
  • 4th and Final is an Immediate Disqualification from the Match / Category Entered  and an Ippon 6 Point Penalty against

 

Championship Details, Information, Rules and Regulations

 

·         Competitors must wear a Clean and Suitable Type of Wrap-Over Judo/Jujitsu Gi/Suit/Kimono

 

·         Finger and Toe Nails must be Clean and not to long as so they do not Hurt, Injure or Cut your Opponent,

 

·         Blue and Red Belts will be provided on the Day of the Championships for the Players use.

 

·         All Players are expected to remain seated during the course of their particular Category until the final announcements are made, this will ensure the smooth running of the Categories and Championships.

 

·         The Venue, Organisers, Officials, Referee’s, Players, Spectators, cannot and will not be held responsible or liable for any injury or loss, however caused. It is the Sole Responsibility of either the Player/s, Parent, Guardian, Instructor and/or Coach, Club, his or her Association, Federation and or National Governing Body, to make sure that the Player/s Competing at these Open Championships is fully insured and covered, as so to be able partake in these Open Championships.

 

·         Fully Qualified and Registered H.S.E. First Aid Officials will be in attendance at the Championships all day through to Completion, They’re Decision is FINAL.

 

·         There is 1 FREE Coaches Pass for a minimum of 3 Club Team Member Players and Entries, and for 10 or more Club Team Member Players and Entries, the Club will be issued with another 1 EXTRA FREE Coach’s Pass, If you are a Coach with 2 Players or less, then you will be charged £5 for Entry to the Open Championships.

 

·         If your Club or Organisation has either a Judge, Referee, Score Keeper and Time Keeper that is willing to volunteer his or her time on the Day of the Open Championships, will you please fill in the Judge, Referee, Table and Time Officials Boxes and Contact the Organiser; Jim McSherry on 07968 310970 to Register the details, for the Officials Passes, as he or she will receive a Free Officials Entry Pass which will also allow them to gain access to the Officials Free Hot and Cold Buffet, Hot and Cold Refreshments throughout the Day of the Championships.

 

·         The Judges, Referee’s, Score and Time Keepers Officials Meeting will be at 8.30am Prompt, so if you have Volunteered your time as either a Judge, Referee, Score or Time Keeper, please don’t be late to the Officials Meeting, as The Championships will start at 9.00am Prompt, your support and help is much appreciated as so to sort out your Tatami Areas, Equipment and Details, and hence, very important for the Smooth Running of the Championships.

 

·         The Venue will be open from 8.00am in the morning on the Day of the Championships for everyone to be able to Register and Weigh-In.

 

·         Junior weigh in is from 8.00am, Adult weigh in is from 11.00am onwards, all Player Weigh-Ins must be done “Without a Gi”. There will be a + or - Allowance of a 1kg weight tolerance/allowance in all but the Open Weight Categories, where there is NO Weight Limit and hence is Open to All Players within they’re Particular Category regardless of weight.

 

·         All Matches Begin and Start with Both Players Sitting Down on the Tatami / Mat with they’re Backs to each other, they’re legs out straight and together with both hands on they’re knees, hence the name “Back to Back”.

 

·         Eliminations Will Begin at 9.00am promptly, (so please don’t be late registering, weighing-in and signing in etc) and the Championships will finish/end no later than 5.30pm, so this allows for everyone to get away and hence, be on they’re journey home at a sensible time.

       Championship Details, Information, Rules and Regulations

 

 

·         All Winners and Competitors Tournament Medals will be Presented immediately on Completion of each and every Category by the Mat / Tatami Judges and Referee’s.

 

·         The Open Weight Categories are Open to all and any weight Competitor within the relevant age Categories etc, so if you wish to Enter this extra Category as a Second Category within your applicable age group, you can do so, there is also a Discounted Entry Fee for doing so.

 

·         All Category Eliminations will be by either: Pool, Knockout or Straight Knockout with no Repechage, this will be decided by the Championships Organiser either prior to or on the day of the Championships and is subject to the Quantity of Players per Category Entered, and also the time available for each Category, as the round times in any of the Categories may either be reduced or extended, which again is also subject to change if and when time dictates or required.

 

·         Cameras and Video Cameras are allowed and can be used, please register them and your details on the forms attached for each and every video recorder as you will be issued with a Video Pass on entry to allow you to use Video Camcorders/Recorders, we do not charge a fee, but please, do not film in or around the immediate Competition/Mat/Tatami Areas, please film only from the Spectator Seating Areas.

 

·         The Organisers reserve the right to either Cancel and/or Amalgamate any Under Subscribed Category, (Hopefully this won’t happen if enough Players enter).

 

·         All Player/s Category Entry Forms must be sent back to the Organiser; Jim McSherry by either E Mail or Post Only.

 

·         All Cheques or Postal Orders to be made payable U.M.A. or United Martial Alliance and Posted to the address below.

 

·         All Player/s Category Entry Forms and Player/s Entry Fees must reach us by no later than: Friday 17 th August 2008

 

·         No Player/s Entries or Entry Fees will be allowed or accepted after the Closing Date; Friday 17 th August 2008,

      and No Player/s Entries will be allowed or accepted on the actual day of the Championships, so don’t ask, sorry…

Hot and Cold Refreshments, Food and Snacks will be available to Purchase Through out the Day of the Championships
